My attention has recently been directed to a consultation run by the European Commission on EU citizenship. This consultation runs until September 9th 2012 and explains that the Commission “would like to hear your views about the issues that concern you.”

However, be warned, it looks like they aren’t interested in hearing your views after all.

This consultation document has a large preamble of propaganda that seeks to promote the European Commission. It also asks closed and leading questions on topics that you might not care about.

If they really wanted to hear the real views of the people in the EU surely the European Commission would have  asked more open questions? Surely they would have allowed people to comment more widely about the subjects that they believe matter to them?

Instead, the European Commission ask questions and give options that will allow you to tell them what they want to hear.

It will give them results that will inevitably be used for marketing purposes and, because of the nature of the questioning and defined answers,  will allow the European Commission to suggest that it has the backing of European people.

If you wish to give the European Commission marketing info that they will most likely be used to promote their own activities, if you can navigate through the minefield of EU nonsense, and if you find a way to giving your true opinions on subjects that truly concern you, I have put the link below.

I for one won’t be filling it out.
