The Freedom Association ushered in a new era with the newly-appointed Deputy Directors Dia Chakravarty and Rory Broomfield by hosting a fantastically lively quiz last night. There were the usual suspects who seemed to know answers to the most obscure questions and then there were the fun-loving punters whose main aim was to come up with the most ridiculous team names and answers – winning the quiz taking a distant second on the list of priorities.

TFA remained true to its traditions by including a dreaded London Underground question in the quiz. The event was used as a bit of a shameless advertising opportunity too by featuring multiple questions on TFA’s past and its imminent move to the HMS President (1918) which, it was revealed, was originally named HMS Saxifrage (The Pride of London).

It will come as no surprise to the seasoned TFA-er that the Moggetts yet again claimed victory with a whopping 41.5 points, fighting off fierce competition from Men’s Coxless 4 at 38.5. As a nod to the Olympics, there were gold medals for winners of each round along with the usual Freedom Beers, while the silliest answers of the rounds were awarded with bags of frogs (of the sweets variety) as a reference to our friendly neighbours across the channel who brought this upon themselves by prematurely berating Team GB’s Olympic performance. The winning team was awarded a stuffed ‘Pride the Lion’, the Team GB mascot, while the losers received a Wenlock stationery set to help them better prepare for the next TFA quiz.
