Meet the Team

Simon Richards Director

Simon profileSimon Richards, age unknown – although, pictures of him waving a flag whilst walking in front of one of those funny motor car things have been seen.  Also known as the “gentleman of gentlemen” he became a member of TFA whilst still at school and in awe of Margaret Thatcher.   Thirty years later he’s still a member and still in awe of Margaret Thatcher.  He preaches and practices tolerance and maintains a light hold on the TFA reins.  He is one of the THE most knowledgeable people on anything historical or political – buy him a pint and be prepared to be in awe yourself.

Rory Broomfield Deputy Director

Rory joined TFA from his own consulting activities and has previously worked in Westminster for a number of MPs including Theresa May, Sir Richard Shepherd and Graham Brady. He leads the Better Off Out campaign, along with TFA’s publications programme, and is putting the positive case for why the UK would be better off being independent from Brussels. Rory is the author of “Membership of the EU: There Are Alternatives” and has also been a Director and Board Member of the United Nations Association-UK (UNA-UK). He is both a British and Swiss citizen and has first hand knowledge of just how successful nations can be when they are outward looking and free from the dead hand of excessive regulation. He holds a First Class degree in Politics from the University of York along with Master degrees from both City University London and Warwick Business School.

Dia Chakravarty Deputy Director

Dia joined TFA from Banking on Change, a partnership between Barclays Bank, Plan International and CARE International extending access to basic financial services to over 400,000 disadvantaged people. In her role she is making the case for free enterprise and free trade as the best and most morally justifiable economic systems, which have brought unimagined prosperity to billions of people. Born in Bangladesh, Dia holds traditional British freedoms dear and leads our defence of freedom of expression and individual liberty under the law. Dia holds a Master’s degree in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford.
