Meet the Team
Director
Simon Richards, age unknown – although, pictures of him waving a flag whilst walking in front of one of those funny motor car things have been seen. Also known as the “gentleman of gentlemen” he became a member of TFA whilst still at school and in awe of Margaret Thatcher. Thirty years later he’s still a member and still in awe of Margaret Thatcher. He preaches and practices tolerance and maintains a light hold on the TFA reins. He is one of the THE most knowledgeable people on anything historical or political – buy him a pint and be prepared to be in awe yourself.
Jane Broadhurst
Office Manager
Jane, first of all, is horrified to look like a St. Trinian in her photo. She began working for TFA in 2009 and has never looked right, always left. She has transformed systems behind the scenes so much so you are in danger of seeing (and certainly hearing) much more of her in the future.
Stephanie Lis
Campaign Manager
Stephanie first started working for TFA as an intern in early 2011. She impressed us so much that we knew we had to get her on board full time. Having completed a History degree at Nottingham, and a Masters at LSE, Stephanie will be orchestrating all TFA’s campaigns.
Student Development Manager
John has been an active member of TFA for the last couple of years and founded Southampton University Freesoc in 2010. Before being appointed as our Student Development Manager, John spent some time working in the Education Department of the Institute of Economic Affairs; a staunch Thatcherite who has a profound suspicion of government power and the European Union he fits well into our team.
Researcher
Hasan is taking a year off from his Political Economics degree at Birmingham University to research freedom issues for TFA. He has some very interesting and exciting plans and has already published TFA’s first Freedom Review. He has contributed to Conservative Home and did a fantastic job representing TFA on BBC Big Questions.
Alumni
Christiana Hambro
Development Manager (July 2010 – July 2011)
Christiana’s first mistake was to become our intern during the summer of 2009. She blew us away with how quickly she picked everything up and we kept our claws on her. During her time at TFA she oversaw the establishment of our London office and our monthly Free Spirits events and pub quizzes. She also organised the first Freedom Forum – a residential, libertarian conference for 100 students. She now works as the Events Manager at The Henry Jackson Society.
Campaigns Manager (Sept 2005 – Nov 2007)
Born and brought up on Tyneside, Mark cut his political teeth campaigning against Britain joining the Euro, and took part in the No campaign in the 2004 North East Regional Assembly Referendum. Following a degree in Archaeology at the University of Durham, he took up an offer to work in political campaigns with The Freedom Association. After 2 years at TFA, Mark became Campaign Director of the TaxPayers’ Alliance (November 2007 – July 2010). He currently works for Portland Communications and writes the very popular ‘Crash, Bang, Wallace‘ blog.
