The Freedom Association is delighted to confirm that Steve Baker MP, Lord Stoddart and the Rev’d Peter Mullen will be speaking at our Magna Carta Day celebration in Windsor on 15 June 2014 – the 799th anniversary of the signing of Magna Carta.

Alongside speeches at the Magna Carta Monument in Runnymede, there will be The Freedom Association’s Magna Carta Day Boat Trip, as mentioned in the Daily Mail last year.

Prices for this special day include a boat trip from Windsor to Runnymede and back, a glass of Pimm’s, a buffet lunch and speeches at Runnymede. Biographies of speakers

Steve Baker is Member of Parliament for Wycombe and, after starting his in the Royal Air Force, worked for a specialist entrepreneurial software firm and, in partnership with Toby Baxendale, Dr Tim Evans and Dr Anthony Evans, co-founded The Cobden Centre. In his time in Parliament, Steve has established and chairs an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Economics, Money and Banking and is a Vice Chair of the Aerospace APPG. He serves on both Parliament’s Transport Committee and Treasury Committee.

Lord Stoddart of Swindon is a former member of the County Borough Council of Reading, Labour Member of Parliament for Swindon and Government Whip. During his time in the House of Commons, Lord Stoddart was also PPC to the Housing Minister and Front Bench opposition spokesman on Trade & Industry. He was raised to the peerage as a life peer in 1983 and was Chief Front Bench spokesman on energy 1983–1988 where he served as House of Lords Whip during the same period. He is both a Council Member of The Freedom Association and support of the Better Off Out campaign.

The Rev’d Dr. Peter Mullen became Priest-in-Charge of St Michael’s Cornhill & St Sepulchre-without-Newgate and Chaplain to the Stock Exchange in 1998 and was later the Rector of St Michael, Cornhill. He retired on his seventieth birthday in January 2012 but remains an active supporter and Council Member of The Freedom Association.
