Regular Events
Free Spirits events are aimed at young members and supporters of The Freedom Association. Free Spirits events take place on the second Monday of every month at The Old Star pub in Westminster, London (SW1H 1DN). They take the format of a short speech, followed by questions from the floor. Free Spirits always provide interesting and provocative debate. Topics are often controversial and result in passionate discussion amongst the audience. The pub setting ensures a friendly atmosphere, which results in plenty of intelligent contributions from the floor.
Above all, Free Spirits is a way to promote free speech and passionate debate amongst young people.
In the past year speakers have included John Whittingdale OBE MP, Alex Deane (former Director of Big Brother Watch), Nick de Bois MP, Alexandros Petersen, Dr. John Meadowcroft, Daniel Hamilton, John Hemming MP, Dominique Lazanski, Matthew Sinclair, Emma Boon, David Campbell Bannerman MEP and many more.
Free Spirits events are also held at University campuses across the country and at party conference fringes. At Universities, as well as offering excellent speakers, we also provide a free drink to each student who attends. In this way, students can hear top speakers and discuss freedom issues, whilst enjoying a drink.

The Wesminster Village Pub Quiz began in March 2011, and goes from strength to strength each month. Taking place at the Old Star pub in Westminster on the second Tuesday of every month, it sees fierce but fun competition. With a variety of different themed rounds, come and test your general knowledge (or ignorance!) against some like-minded libertarians! The quiz usually starts around 7pm, although drinks tend to begin earlier on. Teams can be a maximum of five people, with entry costing a mere £1! The winning team receives prizes and – more importantly – the glory of the Freedom Association quiz champion title!
For more information on any of these events, check the ‘Upcoming events’ page or contact dia@tfa.net.
