My visit to the politically-correct police HQ. Peter Mullen tells all.

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association.

Peter_Mullen_(2).pngThis morning’s newspapers report a worrying increase in crimes of all sorts: burglaries are up 20% on last year; muggings up by 10%; and there were more under-25s stabbed to death in London last year than ever in the history of recorded crime. This depressing trend is replicated throughout the country.

Shocked, I was determined to get to the truth behind these disturbing statistics. Luckily, I knew where to go and whom to ask: to the Erewhon Police Division to meet again my old associate Commander Aslan Cardboard-Cutout. They’re not too fussed about security clearance at Erewhon and so it only took me an hour and forty-seven minutes to sign in. Aslan went across to the drinks cabinet and returned with two stiff (fizzy) mineral waters,

The Guardian: A Psychiatric Casebook

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association. In this post, Peter takes a look at The Guardian newspaper a week after it became a tabloid.

Peter_Mullen_(2).pngThe Guardian has gone tabloid, but the change has neither remedied its intellectual deficiencies nor purged its ideological malaise. Very smart, neat presentation, but the same old shibboleths.

Murderous stabbings – what the paper calls “knife crime,” as if the knives did it – are at an all-time high in London where forty-six people under the age of twenty-five were killed in 2017 alone. This only leads The Guardian to repeat again one of its favourite mantras: “Stop and search is not the answer.” Better a plague of murders eh, than to risk being accused of racism?

Corbyn’s Charmers

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association. Peter takes a look at the three new people who have been elected to the Labour Party's National Executive Committee.

Peter_Mullen_(2).pngWhile May’s so called “government” lurches from one crisis of ineptitude to the next fiasco, Jeremy Corbyn is quietly assembling his politburo – the polite name for which is Labour’s National Executive Council (NEC).

One of my favourite films for a wet Saturday afternoon is Superman II in which our hero grapples with a trio of malevolent opponents. The three people appointed to the NEC last week rather reminded me of that film. They are: Jon Lansman, Yasmine Dar and Rachel Garnham who accumulated more votes than the lefty comedian Eddie Izzard. Those three are a huge force behind Labour’s shift to the hard left and their election gives Corbyn a majority on the ruling Council.

I have discovered a little about each of this trio and what they stand for…

The Politics of Envy

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association.

Rev-Peter-Mullen_(2)_.png“There has been grouse shooting on Ilkley Moor since the guns that allowed it were invented.” So said Edward Bromet, chairman of the Bingley Moor Partnership (BMP). But there will be no more shooting.

The Labour run Bradford Council has banned it. They voted “with overwhelming majority" not to renew a ten-year shooting lease.

So now who is going to pay for moorland conservation in the area?

Mr Bromet said that the BMP, which has made substantial payments towards this, would have invested a further £800,000 had the lease been renewed for another ten years. Also, the moorland stood to benefit from another £1million in private investment through local partnerships.

Peers vote to bankrupt the free press

On the day we have announced a new eighth principle of a free society -  a free press and other media - Peter Mullen has written a timely article about those Peers who voted yesterday to restrict press freedom.

Rev-Peter-Mullen_(2)_.pngIf, along with millions of others, you enjoy reading your local paper every morning, make the most of it because you might not have a local paper for much longer. For last night the House of Lords scandalously voted to restrict press freedom yet further. The vote was on an amendment to Section 40 of the Government's Data Protection Bill which will make newspapers face huge bills in data protection disputes.

Under this proposal, newspapers not signed up to a state-supported regulator would have to pay their opponent's legal costs, even if they were successful in court.

It's not the economy, stupid!

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association.

Peter_Mullen_(2).pngThe heart is always gladdened when someone in authority makes a definite and determined statement. So congratulations are in order for Sadiq Khan, mayor of London, who stated in his election manifesto of 2016:

“I shall challenge gang culture and knife crime head on.”

Well said, Sir! So how’s he doing at the end of his first year in office?

Homicides in London rose by 27.1%. Youth homicides increased by 70%. Serious youth violence is up 19%. Robbery up 33.4%, while home burglaries rose by 18.7%.

That’s a remarkable increase in serious offences of all sorts. But there’s more…

HOW YOU GONNA KEEP 'EM DOWN ON THE FARM?

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association.

“Do you need to be told that what has been can still be?” asked T.S. Eliot in his Choruses from the Rock (1934).

It seems a daft question which we answer emphatically, “Of course it can!” Not if you’re a Marxist though, for whom historical events are “inevitable.” So the communist revolution, the dictatorship of the proletariat and the punishment of the capitalists will all happen necessarily, as if decreed by the laws of the Medes and the Persians.

A new Puritan Commonwealth?

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association.

Rev-Peter-Mullen_(2)_.pngWe have complete freedom of speech in this country. It’s just that we’re not allowed to say anything. Our politicians are forever boasting of our freedoms and telling us what a wonderful country we are privileged to live in – unlike Johnny Foreigner in any number of dictatorial regimes abroad.

But this week the government has threatened – not for the first time – to invoke Section 40 of the Crime and Courts Act 2013.

What’s that when it’s out?

Just about the most unjust and iniquitous piece of legislation you could imagine in the worst of your Orwellian nightmares. Section 40 will force newspapers to pay the legal costs of those who sue them – even when a newspaper wins the court case against its accuser.

This is beyond outrageous.

You have been warned. In Corbyn and his gang we are beset by the enemy within

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association.

Rev-Peter-Mullen.pngIt is more than likely that Jeremy Corbyn will be our next prime minister. His political idols are Hugo Chavez and his successor Nicolas Maduro who have turned Venezuela into a hell on earth. Corbyn’s social and economic policies would quickly bring Britain to a similar catastrophe. Here are a few details…

Miguel Rodríguez Torres, a Venezuelan general who served as President Maduro’s interior minister in 2013 and 2014, recently warned that his country is on the verge of civil war. Large riots and protests have intensified in every major city, including the working class neighbourhoods which once firmly supported Maduro’s government.

How to produce a mental case…

The following is a guest post by the Rev Dr Peter Mullen, Hon. Chaplain of The Freedom Association.

Rev-Peter-Mullen.pngEvery week, it seems, there is another TV documentary or a special supplement in a national newspaper to tell us the shocking news of the “epidemic of mental illness among young people.” Even Prince Harry and Prince William wax all teary eyeball and harp on the same theme. The sages in the mass media express puzzlement about the causes of this epidemic. But really they should not be surprised. The Jesuits had a saying, “Give me a child until he is seven and I will give you the man.”
